Classic Cuvee, Court Garden 2017

The farm at the heart of this family-owned estate in Ditchling dates back to Saxon times and from the Middle Ages was owned by the monks of nearby Lewes priory.The vineyard lies in a beautiful spot on a south-facing slope beneath the South Downs and winemaker Hugo Corney makes a range of fantastic sparkling wines with real character and purity of fruit. The Classic Cuvee is a blend of the classic Champagne trio but always strikes me as tasting completely of the English summer, quite full-bodied and with a soft creamy mousse but also a vibrant, refreshing citrus and greengage character, the ideal aperitif.
