Chiroubles 'La Forge', Domaine de la Chaponne 2021

This small vineyard of just one hectare belongs to the family of Laurence, wife of Laurent Guillet who makes the wine alongside his Morgon (available here) at Domaine de la Chaponne: from grapes fermented as whole bunches (with occasional remontage but no pigeage) this is soft and gentle, with ripe juicy red fruit and a slightly earthy finish, a great introduction to one of the more easy-going styles of Cru Beaujolais.
