Ch Capet-Guillier, St Emilion Grand Cru 2017
This small estate, with just 3ha of vines, lies in the commune of Saint-Hippolyte and had been owned by the same family since the Revolution before being taken over by Antoine Moueix in 2009. Stephane Derenoncourt is now consultant winemaker and quality has improved considerably. This is textbook Saint-Emilion with a nose of dark plum fruit and tobacco, followed by notes of fresh blackberry, cherry, some vanilla, licorice and spice ending with rounded, supple tannins.
