Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Les Olivets', Domaine Roger Sabon 2021

In the talented hands of Didier Negron, winemaker since 2004, this has become one of the top estates in Chateauneuf and a favourite of Robert Parker over the years. Vines are planted on the prime pebbly 'galets roulés' soils of Les Cabrieres, La Crau (home of Vieux Telegraphe), Courthezon and Nalys. His 'Les Olivets' cuvee (from the youngest vines, a mere 50 years old) is ripe, supple and very approachable even when young, with baked plum and cherry fruit balanced with soft earthy spice and herbs, and some fine, rounded tannins.
