Ribera del Duero 'Mirum', Bodega Valdaya 2018

The exceptional 2018 vintage of 'Mirum' from Bodegas Valdaya, which under talented winemaking duo Marta Ramas and Miguel Fisac has risen to the first division of Ribera del Duero producers in a remarkably short period of time: 100% Tinto Fino (better known as Tempranillo in Rioja and beyond) from two parcels of old bush-vines in Banos de Valdearados at an altitude of some 925m, the grapes de-stemmed before the free-run juice is aged for 15 months in predominantly French oak barrels. Concentrated, expressive and supremely elegant, textured and mineral, a fine example of what this stellar region is capable of.
