'Uvaggio' Coste della Sesia, Proprieta Sperino 2019

A northern Italian gem from Proprieta Sperino, a 7.7ha estate in the Coste della Sesia hills of Piemonte given a new lease of life when inherited by Paolo De Marchi, owner of renowned Chianti producer Isole e Olena. Principally Nebbiolo blended with Vespolina and Croatina (the latter more common in Lombardy). Ferrous and earth scented, with a kiss of sweet cherry/plum fruit and plenty of fine, supple tannin, somewhere between a Barolo and a Burgundy. Elegant, grown-up and quite charming.
