Bandol Rouge, Domaine Tempier 2018

One of the great names of the south of France, the Tempier estate (now run largely organically) was first rejuvenated by the late Lucien Peyraud and helped to re-establish Bandol as the home of some of France's best Mourvedre wines. Daniel Ravier is now winemaker, producing incredibly characterful, impressive wines in the traditional style. The Classique red is blended across all the various vineyard plots and is deep and brooding, with dark ripe fruit, soft earthy spice and touches of garrigue herbs.
