Recoleta Pedro Blanco, Mauricio Lorca 2022
Tasted blind you'd expect this to be possibly an Albarino, perhaps a well-made Pinot Grigio. You probably wouldn't expect it to be an inexpensive dry Pedro Ximenez (the grape variety best known for its exceptionally sweet and concentrated fortified versions made in Spain's Jerez) from the east of Mendoza and made by one of Argentina's top producers of Malbec and Cabernet Franc. This is fresh, floral, aromatic, with lots of lively, intensely refreshing citrus fruit, a really stylish and unusual little wine.
